Movember 2009 – Mo Grown

December 13th, 2009 | Comments | Posted in blog

Movember is over, was great fun and a great feeling to be an offical Mo Bro this year. A big Thank you! to those who donated, final tally was $30 raised individually and a great effort from the team at work raising $270.50.

I’m a little short of words, so I thought I’d leave it up to the photos to do the talking. Enjoy :)

Movember 2009 – Let the Growing Begin!

November 4th, 2009 | Comments | Posted in blog

I’m finally using the facial hair for the power of good and growing a Movember moustache for reals this year. Unlike last year’s chopper/trucker mo that turned up after a close shave, this year I started November 1st clean shaven and registered at the Movember website.

What many people don’t appreciate is that close to 3,000 men die of prostate cancer each year in Australia and one in eight men will experience depression in their lifetime – many of whom don’t seek help.

Movember is now in its sixth year and, to date, has achieved some pretty amazing results by working alongside The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCFA) and beyondblue: the national depression initiative. Check out further details at: http://au.movemberfoundation.com/research-and-programs.

Mo progress will be logged (with photos!) on my Movember profile page.

To sponsor my young and impressionable Mo, you can either:

  • Click this link http://au.movember.com/mospace/223349/ and donate online using your credit card or PayPal account
  • Write a cheque payable to ‘Movember Foundation’, referencing my Registration Number 223349 and mailing it to: Movember Foundation, PO Box 292, Prahran, VIC, 3181
  • Hunt me down and throw cash at my feet to worship the fuzz that is my Mo

Remember, all donations over $2 are tax deductible.

Offerings of names for the new found fuzzy member of the family will also be accepted. Hope to see lots of Mobrothers and Mosisters out there on the streets of Perth!

Garden Harvest

March 25th, 2009 | Comments | Posted in blog

Garden Tomatoes

With a little extra time on my hands at the moment (more on that later) I finally ventured back into our vege garden this afternoon. From a handful of home grown cherry tomato seeds, what you see here is our second(!) harvest of the plants. It’s also what my Grandfather was famous for, lots of tomatoes and tomato sauce to go around (Not to mention the Christmas Pud!).

Also spent some time cleaning up the patch, the weeds and grass just keeps coming back stronger and stronger. Also can’t wait for the lonely Lemon to finally ripen. My beer needs it! Hopefully next harvest I’ll remember to take some photos of the patch itself.

I encourage everyone to give it a good. With some good soil, seeds and plenty of regular watering anyone can grow some fruit and veg. Next, I think I’ll give carrots a go.

Nay at the Ladies Trackday

October 3rd, 2007 | Comments | Posted in blog

Well this Saturday just gone was Nay’s first Ladies only Track Day at Barbagello raceway. It was a chance for the girls of Perth Street Bikes to go mad around the track and learn a thing or two. Don’t get me wrong, the day was structured to teach them from the ground up how to properly handle the bike.

The pictures below perfectly illustrate the progress Nay was making. Notice how she looks more comfortable on the bike, leaning over more and hugging the bike closer.

Well it was all going well until the last lap before lunch. Just as all the staff were pulling off the track as the ladies went round. Right at the first corner of the last lap. Nay went a little wide…

*ring* *ring*
Me: That’s odd, I don’t recognise that number. This can’t be good.
Nay: I binned your bike! :(

She went wide, took one look a the fast approaching sand pit and that’s where she ended up. The on site ambulance officers raced to the corner and checked her over. Nothing major but a sore neck, so straight on with the neck brace. I raced straight up to the local hospital to meet her, she was still a little shaken up but all the toes and fingers were wiggling. A few quick xrays and she was given the okay to go home.

The Spada was a little bit worse for wear. It is however a little more streamlined. She managed to snap both mirrors clean off, luckily that’s pretty much where the damage list ends apart from a few scratches. The bike started after the off and was riding straight, so no major damage. :)

An eventful weekend but Nay is recovering well, just going to be a few more days before she can squeeze the helmet back on. Spada is going in for the once over tomorrow to make sure everything is okay and to get the mirrors reattached. *chuckle*
